Where can I find daycare/preschool designing and decorating for an infant room?
I take care of infants in a Daycare that can handle 7 infants with two teachers. Would like some ideas of decorating the room.We have 6 Cribs and one evaucation crib,Changing Table,two swings,two walkers and there are 2 windows.One on the wall as you come into the room and the other window is on the opposite side to the left. Just looking for some changes. How far can The Changing Table be from the sink where we have to wash hands?
How can I place these Cribs,walkers and swings.So some of the infants will have room to crawl?
It is important that the infants have room to crawl so make sure you have a large space somewhere to allow them to do this. The thing to remember when thinking about decorating a room for this age group is to make it interesting. Not just interesting to the eye, but also to touch. Use textured fabrics/throws over couches/chairs. You can even make a throw rug for the floor by sewing different materials together like a patchwork so that when the children lie on it they can explore the different feels.
You can also hang things from the ceiling. You can get nice mosquito nets that are supposed to hang over beds and hang it either in the corner like a tent or attached to four corners of the room like a canopy.
It's also nice to hang photos of the children who attend the daycare. You can put it on a poster on the wall or you can make little frames like flowers or clouds, put the photos inside and hang them from the ceiling. Write their name next to their photo to help adults ie parents/casual staff to know who is who, and also promote name recognition at this young age.
You can also hang mobiles and shiny things around to catch the light and provide something to look at.
You can also make really simple craft ideas that you can hang on the walls. Photocopy some outlines for animals and the children can collage on them. They can glue cotton buds on bunny rabbits, or yellow crepe paper on chickens. You could make an aquarium by collaging fish and hanging them from the ceiling with some blue and green streamers hanging down.
