How necessary is a bumper?
I can't seem to get my bumper to work with the type of crib I have. I have one of those Crib/Changing Table combos. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2633160
The above link is the one I have.
The thing is because it doesn't have corners on one side I can't get it to tie right, and I don't think I'll be able to use it unless I find a really great idea that will make it safe without gaps.
I really wanted to be able to use one to aid in avoiding bumps and legs/arms getting stuck.
They are more for show than anything. When the baby is a newborn, they aren't going to be "bumping" into anything, because they should be placed in the middle of the crib, away from cushy plush things like crib bumpers. And once they are old enough to pull themselves to a standing position, you are supposed to take them out so that they won't climb on it and fall out of the crib.
Plus, when it comes time to change the crib sheets, it is much easier without a bumper.
