What skeeves you at your child's daycare?
This is a two-part question:
1. What skeeves you at your child's daycare?
and
2. Mine is the changing tables--the pads are all ripped up and while I'm sure they clean them, they don't look clean. Are there any regulations on this? They just last had a visit at the end of August. It is a private daycare center--roughly 40 kids. I want to say something, but don't want to offend. We've only been taking our daughter there for a week, and I don't want to be the pain in the @ss parent. It's my child's first time at daycare and she is 18 months. Is this normal? Are they required to use liners or butcher paper or something each time they change a child?
Any suggestions on how to approach it? I'm very surprised by this and that no one else has complained?
that you for the honesty--i do appreciate it. i do however feel that ripped up Changing Pads where the stuffing is visible can not be disinfected. don't really want my kid's bottom on that. ew.
There are regulation in place for cleaning The Changing Table and changing a diaper.
Daycare's will use a bleach solution to wipe down the area between every child. Some daycares will use a liner and others do not. As long as they are disinfecting the area with bleach or another approved cleaner after every child they are within regulation.
You could causally bring it up one day while picking up or dropping off, but do not expect much to happen. I work in a daycare, and to be honest(and not to sound rude), we pretend to care about parent suggestions, but really do not. I can guarantee that when/if you bring it up, the teacher will politely smile, tell you that they do not use paper, tell you how they disinfect it after each child, and possible add that she/he doesn't know when they are getting a new Changing Pad.
If you are really concerned you could bring in your own pad liners for your daughters use. Just tell them you would be more comfortable with a liner. Most places will use whatever you provide.
No one else has complained b/c when you think about it, it is not a big deal. They probably do not look clean b/c bleach often distorts colors, and after awhile they get a yellow tinge to them.
