A Clean and Healthy Daycare Center Is a Safe and Happy Daycare Center
In order to have a clean and healthy environment for the children in daycare, everyone must have good sanitary habits. The rules must be enforced by the Daycare Director and Health Department Inspectors. The Director must order cleaning supplies that are safe to be used in a childcare setting. Make sure that supplies are used according to directions on containers or according to Health Department regulations.
The staff must always wash hands frequently with soap and water. They must use a santitizing and disinfectant solution to santitize and disinfect the toys, furnishings, meal tables, high chairs, Cribs, beds, diaper pails, and Diaper Changing Tables. The daycare staff should clean the floors on a daily basis with proper cleaning solutions.
Be sure to wash children's hands often. They should be washed before and after meals, after coming in from outside play, after diapering changing and after using the toilet. Children should not be allowed to share food or drink from each other's cups or bottles. The daycare staff should have lesson plans and activities on hygiene that the children can participate in.
If possible, open windows so fresh air can flow through the building. If not possible, it is recommended that the air conditioning be set at an appropriate temperature. It is also recommended that the staff use disposable dishes and disposable hand towels.
When your Daycare Center is clean it will cut down on the chance of a child carrying infectious germ bugs home to their family causing them to be sick. It will reduce parents having to miss days at work to stay home and care for their sick child, which may cause them problems on the job. When your center is clean, your parents will notice it and they will tell other parents that are looking for a center for their child; which will cause your business to prosper and be successful.
At least twice a year do a general cleaning to get rid of accumulated clutter to provide a safe environment for the children to play. Again wash hands, wash hands, wash hands, staff and children. This will reduce the spread of illness-causing germs which will keep everyone happy and healthy.
