is 2,000 a realistic amount to expect to spend on baby stuff?

we are having a girl and have already recieved pacifiers, clothes, bottles, diapers, blankets, booties, hats, burp clothes, all that stuff from people, enough to fill up six big boxes. The things we are buying ourselves are a Changing Table, a playpen, a high chair, a co-sleeper, a stroller, a swing, a car seat, and a glider. so far we saw this stroller that comes with a car seat, its cute pink and chocolate brown with flowers and costs 180.00, and a playpen that comes with a built in Changing Table (it matches the stroller combo) and Bassinet for 140.00. we are thinking our budget should be about 2,000, on the maximum high side. i just wanted to know if this is realistic?

that sounds about right to me... all the big things add up quickly (cot, Change Table, pram etc)

Best tip i have is that the pram/car seat combo isnt really worth it, as you only need the 'capsule' for the first month or so... i went to the local ambulance station and hired a capsule for while my son was tiny (i'm in australia not sure where you are and if they hire capsules as well)

you wont need a high chair until the baby is at least 5 months old - but by all means by it now if you want to - its just that all the baby stuff takes up HEAPS of room - i dont even have a lounge room any more cause its over run with toys, sheepskin rug, playpen, swing, jumperoo (i think the jumperoo is the best thing i've bought so far!)

so when bub is too young to eat, you can put bits of fruit/veg in it so they get the taste - and when they start teething i put frozen grapes in it so help, and it worked great!!
